Successful negotiations between the "Embassy of Concerned Citizens" and the military.
Anti-governmental protestors could refute being considered as a
Security threat and show their good will.

Vienna, 14th of October 2000.

The "Embassy of concerned citizens" had strongly reacted to the attempt made presenting the landing and take-off of helicopters during the Austrian national day on 26th of October, could be a reason threatening its existence.

Discussions between the demonstrators and the military
authorities in Vienna have brought some solution.

On the military side it was clarified that no security reasons
would require the removal of the demonstrators. The military authorities of Vienna declared that the army does not wish to take a position in the present political conflict. In no case, there should be the impression that the celebration of the national day could hamper the democratic right to demonstrate.

Presently, the
Hofburg castle authorities have declared a "ceasefire" with the "Embassy" until 29th of October. This information was passed on to the "Embassy of concerned citizens" by the military authorities in Vienna, yesterday afternoon.

It remains unclear, however, whether the Hofburg castle authorities will resume negotiations.

The existence of the Embassy at the
Ballhausplatz in front of the government offices is a visible sign for the actual problems with and through the blue-black government. The Embassy is therefore an important place because it offers to people who are worried about the brutal governmental saving policy, the harsh treatment of foreigners and many other reasons, a place to express their views publicly.
