Holy Night at the Resistance Embassy
[deutsch]
[italiano]
Vienna.
X-mas is also being celebrated on Ballhausplatz. At the Embassy of Concerned Citizens, somebody has to be present during this special night
as well, just like on any other day of the year.
But this is pretty nice though, in any case there is a common goal that keeps people together - to resist the government - Rosa explains,
who has been

taking part since the very beginning when the white tent was put
up opposite the chancellor's office. "We have been through a lot", the young woman looks back. "People have been shouting at us, threatening us, there have even been violent attacks." But this is being equated by the people who come by and express their gratitude that "their" embassy is still there. And as a piece of evidence, she points at all the messages in the guest book, the signatures and yummy x-mas biscuits that people have brought by those past weeks.

"We are the majority"

"We are the majority" - the activists of the "resistance embassy" believe that a lot of people do not agree with Austria's FPOe-OeVP-government As well as the participants of the "Thursday protests", it's important for the concerned citizens
to show that there can never be normality under this coalition. "Even if it's freezing cold and we hardly have wood to heat with, the tent and the container shall remain, according to Roas's wishes for X-mas, as a "sign for democracy in practice".
